Editorial notes

Ten minutes will not replace a full training plan, but it is far better than skipping exercise altogether. On busy days a short, well designed session can raise your heart rate, wake up stiff muscles and keep your routine going. The key is choosing workouts that use the time well.

What a good 10-minute workout looks like

  • It starts moving within the first minute, without a long intro
  • It includes a quick warm-up, even if it is just one or two moves
  • It focuses on one goal: mobility, cardio, strength or core
  • It uses simple exercises you can do with good form when tired
  • It offers easier versions so you can stay consistent

The best 10-minute workouts

Some of these videos run a couple of minutes longer because of the intro and cool-down.

1. MadFit: 10-minute daily full body stretch

A full body stretch for tight muscles that works well as a daily habit. Ideal first thing in the morning or after hours at a desk, and easy enough for complete beginners.

2. MadFit: 10-minute full body cardio, no jumping

Steady standing cardio with no repeats and no equipment. It gets you warm and slightly out of breath without making noise, so it suits a small apartment.

3. Jessica Valant: 10-minute full body workout

A no-equipment strength circuit with clear explanations from an instructor who pays close attention to form. A good choice for building strength in short blocks.

4. Heather Robertson: 10-minute total body AMRAP

You repeat a short circuit as many times as you can in the time available, so you set the pace. Beginners can move slowly; fitter people can push harder.

5. Move With Nicole: 10-minute express Pilates

Controlled mat work for the core, hips and posture. It is calm but demanding, and a nice complement to your cardio days.

6. growingannanas: 10-minute daily strength, no jumping

A slightly more challenging bodyweight routine designed to be repeated often. Try it once the sessions above start to feel comfortable.

How to use short workouts

  • On busy days, as your minimum: one session keeps the habit alive
  • Stack two or three for a longer workout, such as cardio plus Pilates
  • Use the stretch as a warm-up or cool-down for another session
  • Spread them through the day as breaks from sitting

A simple week of 10-minute sessions

Monday cardio, Tuesday strength, Wednesday stretch, Thursday Pilates, Friday the AMRAP and a walk at the weekend. That adds up to almost an hour of varied movement without ever blocking more than a few minutes in your diary.

The honest takeaway

Short workouts work best when you do them regularly. A few 10-minute sessions every week will do more for you than an ambitious plan you never start. When you have more time, combine them or move on to 20 or 30-minute videos.
